Massachusetts Expands ABA Insurance Coverage for Individuals with Down Syndrome

We’re excited to share that Massachusetts has officially expanded insurance coverage to include Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy for individuals with Down Syndrome. This policy change marks a significant milestone for families who have long advocated for greater access to individualized, evidence-based support.

As an organization rooted in high-quality, compassionate care, we welcome this change with enthusiasm and readiness.

What This Means For Families

Under the updated regulations, individuals with Down Syndrome can now receive insurance-funded ABA services across settings, including center-based, home-based, and community programs.

This expansion empowers families to access:

  • Behavioral and skill-building interventions that support communication, social development, and independence

  • Collaborative, multidisciplinary treatment planning with clinicians trained in early childhood and developmental differences

  • Meaningful progress tracking and individualized goals built around each child’s strengths
